Dry powder inhalers have become the fastest growing segment in the dynamic respiratory pharmaceutical industry. Most DPIs in development or on the market are flow-rate dependent. As a result, the dose received by the patient varies with the intensity of the breath. Until now, existing DPIs have sufficed, because many of the drugs delivered to the lungs have a wide therapeutic index. However, as more potent drugs are developed, the dose variability will need to be reduced or eliminated.

Our Acu-Breathe products have been designed to meet the growing demand for dry powder inhalers, and to offer improved delivery consistency and efficiency. Our patented inspiratory pressure triggering (i-Point™), does not allow a dose to be released until the user achieves a predetermined inspiratory flow rate (i.e., 30-90/LPM), leading to more consistent and reproducible drug delivery from the device.
