Respirics has designed a line of inhalation delivery technologies incorporating i-Point technology to complement its powder drug formulation work. The company commercialized its first product, MD Turbo®, in May of 2006. The device is a companion product designed to assist patients who use pressurized metered dose inhalers by making them breath-actuated and providing users with an integrated electronic counter. MD Turbo® was cleared for marketing by the FDA in late 2005 and launched in the United States by a marketing partner the following year. All current product development activities relate to the Acu-Breathe™ dry powder inhaler platform. Respirics devices are supported by a strong and growing patent portfolio.
